No, don’t get your hopes up, we’re not actually getting a slot based on the Marvel character Black Widow. Sadly, while Playtech has provided us with numerous awesome slots based on Marvel properties, such as “Spider-Man” and “The Avengers”, that deal expired years ago, which has left us rather unfortunately deprived of slots based on the most interesting Marvel properties – “Ant-Man” and “Guardians of the Galaxy”. Regardless, it seems like another great partnership has risen up to take its place – Isle of Man-based developer Pariplay has partnered up with Atari in order to create various slots based on their classic arcade videogames (of which there are MANY – trust me, I know).
The “Black Widow” online slot will be developed on HTML5, which means that it’s going to be playable from day 1 on desktop as well as on mobile devices, such as phones and tablets. It’s going to feature upgraded graphics (well, duh – the original game runs on vector lines, which is nerd talk for “single-colored lines”) and provide numerous bonus features, which are, for the most part, kept under wraps, though we do know that the RTP will be about 95%. The game will premiere at the ICE Totally Gaming press conference this week, and will then be making its way to online casinos everywhere.
“Black Widow” was originally released in 1982, and while it didn’t do poorly, it was greatly overshadowed by Atari’s other hit games, such as “Pong”, “Asteroids” and “Tempest”, all of which are absolutely amazing and helped shape gaming as we know it (“Tempest” will likely be featured in the upcoming movie “Ready Player One”, since it played a pivotal role in the book that it’s based on). Coincidentally, all of the aforementioned games will be releasing a slot counterpart in 2016 and 2017, which is excellent news for both gamers and slot enthusiasts everywhere. I only hope that the slots can be sufficiently different and interesting – the games were, after all, rather simplistic, so it would take quite a lot of imagination in order to make them entertaining in 2016, especially as slots. Here’s to you, Pariplay!
